What Is An RV?

Ok, let’s start of this blog with talking about Recreational Vehicles or RVs. What are they, what are they used for, and how much do they cost?

What Is An RV?

An RV is a vehicle which ranges in sizes which can be used for transportation and also has a living quarters included. An RV is usually used to travel the country because of its convenience. It is super comfortable to drive and when you get tired, you can take a quick nap on the side of the road or even spend the night there. An RV provides so much flexibility to your road trip. You are no longer bound by accommodation if you can find it. You also have a much more comfortable driving experience. Especially the larger RVs. You basically drive those while sitting on a couch.

Types Of RVs

There are two main types of RVs. One is towed by your own vehicle and the other can tow your vehicle. Both vary in size greatly and in comfort. The latter RV that I was talking about is usually a truck or larger such as a small bus all the way to a full sized bus.

The types of towable RVs are folding camp trailers, extendable trailers, 5th wheel trailers, off road trailers, and truck trailers.

The cost of a new RV is typically $5,000 to $13,000 for folding camp trailers which is usually the best way to start your RV experience on a budget. $4,000 to $30,000 for truck campers. Conventional travel trailers cost around $8,000 to $65,000. 5th wheels, $13,000 – $100,000. Type C motorhomes, $48,000-$140,000. Type B motorhomes go for around $41,000 – $100,000. Or if you really want to travel in comfort and style, you could pick up a Type A motorhome for around $40,000-$500,000.

RVs are a great way to see the country. You will see far more than by bus, plane, or train. It is super flexible especially if you tow your car behind.

On your next road trip, leave your car at home and take your RV for a real adventure.
